It is one of this evenings I am sitting on my sofa and thinking about my life and how it changed the past years. There were a lot of days I wasn’t happy with my life but the most important thing in life is to change. One of my idol is Steve Jobs and he is a big inspiration for me. The quote below describes something very important:
For the past 33 years, I have lookedin the mirror every morning and asked myself: ‚If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?‘ And whenever the answer has been ‚No‘ for too many days in arow, I know I need to change something – Steve Jobs
Let us go back in time where everything started:
It all started when I was born on the 8th of November, 1990 at the hospital in Aarau . I grew up in a small village on the slightly edgy name Gipf -Oberfrick. I spent my entire childhood in Gipf-Oberfrick and graduated the primary school. At the primary school I went to the secondary school and completed successfully. School was never something I liked, because I didn’t like to learn things that I wasn’t interested in it. So beside the school I started to make some money, so I could buy things for my hobbies, like photography and nerd stuff. I bought my first Camera, it was a Canon Ixus 80 IS. I really liked to photograph so a few weeks later I bought my first DSLR the Canon EOS 400D. But I never thought about to make an apprentice ship as a photographer.
At the other hand I was very interested in technology so I thought the best for me is to start an apprentice ship as a computer scientist. But with my grades at school no one gave me the opportunity. So I had to find an other apprentice ship and because of the interest of architecture and modelbuilding I got one as an architectural model builder. But after a few months I realized that this activity does not meet the expectations of my dream profession. This was the first time in my life I had to change something. I only made one job application at IBM. A few weeks later, I got a call from IBM.
IBM gave me the opportunity and I started an apprenticeship at IBM Switzerland in Zurich. In the summer of 2011, I completed my apprenticeship with one of the best grades in Switzerland 5.6. To all companies out there who rejected my job applications – blame yourself.
After my apprenticeship I started working for the company BDU Consulting AG. Also I can work for IBM and for diffrent customers of IBM . The past years I worked a lot. Most time, more than my 8 hours per day. Until I realized that I work for the dream of someone other. Life is not about wake up, go to work, come home sleep and repeat. But with a good schedule at work, it takes only 40-50 hours of your week. So you have around 120 hours to live your dream. Of course you have to sleep as well and the most people are only live their dreams when they sleep. But if you can dream it you can do it, this quote is on my desk. The biggest Adventure you can take, is to live the life of your dreams.
I nearly forgot how much fun I had to photograph, so I took my camera and started again. I created an Instagram Account, travelled a lot and saw a lot of interesting places. I shared the photos on Instagram and got a lot of nice feedbacks. Now I have over 20’000 followers.
I really like to share my life on the internet and I don’t care what other people think. Some people think I have a lot of money that I can travel around and as well I have a nice flat. They think I have rich parents and this is why I have a lifestyle like this. But what the most people don’t see, when they made party every day, I worked hard and saved up money for more important things. I have a good job and make some extra money with online marketing. So I could left my parents home with the age of 18. It was a good step to learn more about life and get independent.
With the age of 22 I got sick of my life. I achieved everything I wanted, I had no goal and no idea what do now. I realized, that the most important thing in life is to have a goal. We are at our very best, and we are happiest, when we are fully engaged in work we enjoy on the journey toward the goal we’ve established for ourselves. It gives meaning to our time off and comfort to our sleep. It makes everything else in life so wonderful, so worthwhile.
It was the first time I set a goal that wasn’t measured by money. I started to work out. I lived a very unhealthy life, just bad food and no sport. I wasn’t fat but I felt ill. My weight was 61 Kg (134 lb) and I’m 180cm (21 inch) tall. In two years I gained 8kg (17lb) and now I live a healthy lifestyle. But again after 2 years I got bored so I needed a new goal.
My Job as an IT Engineer is very uncreative and because I made a lot of sport, I forgot how much fun I had to be a photographer. On a cold day I opened a new tab in my Browser and searched for „Mercedes CLA“ because I really like that car. I ended up on a Video of Casey Neistat. „THE MERCEDES CLA PROJECT“ I subscribed to his channel and watched his daily VLOG. I was so inspired by his filming and cutting skills that I started to make some Videos by my self. Because of a lot Instagram followers I thought I could create a YouTube Channel as well. This is my new project and I have a lot of fun to create and share videos about my life. „If a Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words, What Is a Video Worth?“

Maybe you ask yourself what this Blog has in common with „Live your dream“. I think a goal is nothing more than living your dream. When you invest your time, you make a goal and a decision of something that you want to accomplish. Whether it’s make good grades in school, be a good athlete, be a good person, make more money, create something special, whatever it is you choose to do, you’re investing in your dream.
